Temporal resident





Visa & temporal resident card



It refers to the immigration status of foreign nationals who enter the country with a permit from the Government Secretary (Ministry of the Interior) in order to live or stay in Mexico on a temporary basis. The 80% of the Immigration documents we obtain are under the temporal resident modality.

Renewal



Temporal resident cards must be renewed on a yearly basis within 30 days before the expiration date. Some renewals may be authorized for 1, 2 or 3 years.


The maximum lengh of stay under this kind of status is 4 years.

Notify changes



The following changes must be notified to the immigration authorities within the following 60 days after the change has been ocurred :

  • Change of activity,
  • employer,
  • marital status, or
  • home address.

Lost or stolen document



Missing or stolen visas & cards must be reported to the police authorities of the location where the document was lost.


The police report will be the main requirement in order to file for a replacement.

Exit and re-entry permit



The entry and exit permit, allows a foreign national to exit and return to Mexico, it applies when there is a process pending resolution which requires the immigration authority to hold the foreign national’s immigration forms.

Basic file



The basic file is mandatory for Individuals or companies that are responsible or who hire foreign personnel. The authorization must be renewed on a yearly basis and its one of the most important requirements for new work visas.
