Our daily activity focuses on obtaining visas and residences from the consulates and the National Immigration Institute which is the entity created by the Mexican Government to regulate the legal stay of people from other countries in Mexico. Grants temporary and permanent residence permits.
Visa & temporal resident card
Temporary residence in Mexico is a permit that allows foreign nationals to stay in the country for a period of more than 180 days and up to 4 years. You may have authorization to work or to live as a family member, pensioner, artist, athlete or a number of activities.
For work visas (lucrative activities), the foreigner will first receive their visa at the Mexican Consulates located abroad and upon entering the country we will continue their process until obtaining their residence card.
For family members (non-profit activities) it will not be necessary to go to the consulate.
What does lucrative and non-profit activities mean?
Lucrative activities
The immigration documents that allow the foreign national to carry out activities for which they receive an income or remuneration within the Mexican Republic are called «Lucrative». Any income received outside of Mexico will not have effects in this regard.
Non lucrative activities
Any activity that is exempt from economic remuneration within the country will be considered “Non-lucrative.” To carry out lucrative activities, express notification from the National Migration Institute is required.
Renewal
Temporary residence documents have a limited validity their renewal must begin within thirty days prior to the expiration date.
The maximum validity of a temporary residence document is four years.
Notify changes
Once you obtain your residence card in Mexico you must notify any of the following changes to the immigration authority within 60 days after the change has been occurred :
- Change of activity
- employer
- marital status
- home address.
Lost or stolen document
Missing or stolen visas & resident cards must be reported to the police authorities of the location where the document was lost. The police report will be the main requirement in order to file for your replacement.
Exit and re-entry permit
The entry and exit permit, allows a foreign national to exit and return to Mexico, it applies when there is a process pending resolution which requires the immigration authority to hold the foreign national’s immigration forms.
Basic file
The basic file is mandatory for Individuals or companies that are responsible or who hire foreign personnel. The authorization must be renewed on a yearly basis and its one of the most important requirements for new work visas.
